Our community is deeply saddened by the terrible shooting in Pittsburgh.
We are all heartbroken, and in order to make ourselves feel better, we post links and videos. But what does this accomplish?
At this time of reflection, when a part of our nation is attacked, there can be no greater solace than to be united with all members of the Jewish community. It is a message for us all to strengthen ourselves in a greater unity, in our relationships with one another, and in our relationship with Hashem and Torah.
Last week we had Shabbat Project, and this week we can complement it with the power of Unity.
In doing so, we would like to make two requests from the community.
1) Please come to Shul this Friday night and Shabbat morning earlier, even 10 minutes earlier. Even if you come only on Yom Kippur. Even if you never come. We ask everyone to come and STAND together against this ugly hatred.
2) Light the Shabbat Candles this week 5 minutes earlier. Shabbat signifies the world resting, at Peace. Let us extend more light and peace in the world.
Join us this week as Jews around the world are planning to #Showupforshabbat. We hope to see you all there!
